Coding in a hostile environment
This is how Steve described trying to create widgets that work anywhere.
Some platforms are very widget friendly (pat on the back to Typepad and Bloggers), and some are immensely hostile (big boo to My Space and Word press.com)
Some people, such as Widget Box have been working hard to make tools that will allow you in to some of these platforms. And these tools do enable you to take output and present it to your readers. Not as we would like necessarily, but as good as can be at the moment.
I have written an article in Support about how you can get some tags out of a MySpace blog, and you can apply the technique across any platform that has some sort of feed functionality. Please e-mail me at nigel at jig dot Lu and let me know how well it works!
